The Caribbean tourism industry took a hit last year as the result of an unprecedented hurricane season, with many resorts closing due to storm damage. But now things are looking up. As we’ve recently reported, hotels on hard-hit islands, including St Barths and St Martin, are prepping to open their doors after renovation projects. The latest news is that Belmond La Samanna, a luxury beach resort and spa destination on the exclusive Baie Longue in St. Martin, will welcome guests starting December 10th, 2018.
London-based interior design firm Muza Lab redesigned the public spaces— including the Baie Longue Bar, Trellis restaurant, and main building— along with all 83 rooms. Loyal fans of the hotel will be pleased to know that the “Pastel-chic” style still reigns supreme. Think a color palette of pastel blues, pinks and peaches alongside Caribbean hues, while the design touches include botanical prints, white shells and coral. Repeat guests will also be glad to hear that La Cave Wine Cellar is back— it’s the largest private wine cellar in the Caribbean, and it hosts wine pairing dinners.
Good to know: The Beach Bar has had a complete renovation— complete with swings and new chandeliers— and it’s a top spot for sunset drinks. A destination for fine French dining, Trellis has been restyled as well. Rounding out the facilities, Belmond La Samanna has a garden-set spa offering treatments by French brands Sisley and Pure Altitude, plus a Water Sports Cabana from where guests can partake in a number of water sports.
