White Desert Announces Upgrades to Whichaway Camp

White Desert has unveiled a series of upgrades at its flagship camp, Whichaway, for the 2025-26 season. Located in the heart of the Schirmarcher Oasis, Whichaway Camp offers a "remote yet comfortable" base for guests, set within one of the most extreme environments on Earth.

Each of the six heated polar pods now includes an en-suite shower, offering enhanced privacy and comfort. To further elevate the guest experience, every pod is fitted with its own glass-front conservatory, framing views of the landscape. This new addition will offer a warm, protected setting from which guests can take in the view of the lake and encircling ice fall from the comfort of their duvet.

With space for up to 12 guests, Whichaway Camp also includes a wellness dome with a Finnish sauna, a private chef and expertly guided adventures, such as glacier hikes and ice climbing. These latest set of upgrades come directly after the operator’s announcement of the “Dr. Jones Collection,” a new set of itineraries launching later this season in South America.

Prices start at $71,500 per person for a six-day tour and include return flights and transfers from Cape Town to Antarctica, all accommodation, food and beverages, and activities.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, White Desert was established by polar explorer Patrick Woodhead. Born of a desire to allow guests to experience the wonders of Antarctica, the company has been certified CarbonNeutral since 2007.
