After surveying its advisors, Travel Leaders Group found that the Maldives was one of the destinations that made the biggest leap in growth year over year. Here’s the latest luxury hotel news:
In January, COMO Cocoa Island reopened after a six-month renovation with a focus on holistic wellness. To note, a full third of the private island is occupied by COMO Shambhala Retreat. Facilities are spread out to maximize privacy; there are only four treatment rooms, two of which accommodate couples. A new Pilates studio has been added, while the hydrotherapy pool is used for specialized water-based treatments like joint-mobilizing massages and injury-free exercise.
Good to know: COMO Shambhala Cuisine is available on all menus, allowing guests to maintain vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free diets. Juices, infusions and teas are also available for in-room dining.

Also sporting a new look is Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, which debuted five new room types in December. For families, the Two-Bedroom Deluxe Beach Villas have a private garden and pool, a private outdoor rainshower and floor-to-ceiling windows. For an overwater accommodation, families can instead opt for the Two-Bedroom Grand Water Villa with pool. Both the Grand Water Villa and Grand Water Villa With a Pool have a large living room (which can be converted into a second bedroom), along with a Jacuzzi or pool on the deck. These are also located in the Spa Retreat.

Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa is an all-inclusive resort comprising 120 villas.
In December, the all-inclusive Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa made its debut. What’s of note? Emerald Maldives is home to a wraparound reef, which means guests are never far from an encounter with exotic fish, turtles or manta rays.
The resort touts Amazònico as the first and only South American restaurant in the Maldives; it serves dishes like ceviche with passion fruit dressing and meats and fish from the open-fire grill. Other culinary highlights include Asiatique’s live cooking shows and fresh Maldivian lobster at the Beach Club Grill Restaurant.
Fun fact: The resort’s Dolphin Kids Club has its own zip wire that traverses from one side of the island to the other.
Emerald SPA offers Balinese and Thai treatments, as well as a Turkish bath, sauna and Jacuzzi. Elemis treatments are available for guests seeking a sensory wellness experience. Contact Simone Scarapicchia (sscarapic-chia@emerald-collection.com), director of sales and marketing.
