The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah Ubud is offering a chance to fly over Bali in a hot air balloon with the new Balloons over Bali experience. Starting this week, Chedi Club will offer rides three times a day on its 75-foot balloon, taking off from the rice paddies on the resort. The Chedi Club’s new adventure will be the only ballooning opportunity Bali and the first such initiative launched by a resort.
Each flight climbs approximately 164 feet above the resort’s rice fields, and floats at the end of a tether while passengers witness views of Mt. Agung in the near distance, expansive rice fields below, the forests of Ubud and the approximately 12-acre estate of Hendra Hadiprana, now The Chedi Club.
With multiple flights scheduled at dawn, in the late afternoon/early evening and just after moonrise, each experience sets sail with a maximum of two adults and two children under 12, as well as a certified pilot, though total guest weight cannot exceed 230 kilograms (about 507 pounds).
The flights last between five and seven minutes and cost $150 for each morning and afternoon trip, breakfast or afternoon tea for two included. The final flight of the day includes dinner for two adults and costs $200. The Chedi Club plans to offer the adventure between June and November.
The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah Ubud is a member of General Hotel Management Ltd. (GHM), which owns and operates an exclusive group of hotels and resorts. In addition to the Chedi Club Tanah Gajah Ubud, GHM’s portfolio includes the Chedi Muscat, Oman and the Chedi Andermatt, Switzerland.
