Planning a river cruise in Egypt? Here’s some news to keep in mind. Sanctuary Retreats is currently giving the Sanctuary Nile Adventurer a makeover. Slated to return to the water in September 2019, the ship will show off a completely new look and color scheme, combining contemporary decor with accents alluding to 7,000 years of Egyptian heritage.
All 32 cabins and suites are being remodeled with new fabrics, brass pendant lamps, and headboards with embedded lighting. There are two spacious Junior Suites, outfitted with a new private dining space and “floating” vanity. In the two Presidential Suites, expect enormous windows overlooking the Nile, private balconies and a regal, "floating" four-poster bed. All rooms are air-conditioned.
New facilities will include an open-air gym on the deck, a new bar in the lounge, and a spa equipped with a "floating" bed for treatments. The restaurant is also being transformed with a dramatic central display area for the chefs. Expect onboard cooking lessons to be offered as well.
Sanctuary Retreats currently operates four ships on the Nile: Sanctuary Sun Boat III, Sanctuary Sun Boat IV, Sanctuary Nile Adventurer and Sanctuary Zein Nile Chateau. The focus of these cruise holidays, to quote the official website, is to “employ only the finest floating boutique hotels with a limited number of travelers to create a private, club-like atmosphere.”
Sightseeing excursions are accompanied by experienced Egyptologists who share knowledge of the country’s rich history and archeological treasures. Choose between a three- or four-night itinerary onboard the Sanctuary Nile Adventurer.
