After Acquisition, Ponant to Expand Paul Gauguin Cruises' Fleet

Luxury small ship operator Ponant, which recently purchased Paul Gauguin Cruises, plans to expand that Tahiti/South Pacific luxury line's fleet beyond its current single ship, the 332-passenger Paul Gauguin.

Advisors can expect an announcement on fleet expansion for Paul Gauguin early next year. That news was shared with Seatrade Cruise News by Sarina Bratton, chairman Asia Pacific and special advisor, Ponant, over the weekend. It was also confirmed for Luxury Travel Advisor on Sunday by Edie Rodriguez, Americas brand chairwoman for Ponant.

In addition, Ponant and Paul Gauguin will continue to operate as separate brands, and Bratton said Paul Gauguin plans to open up new South Pacific destinations.
