All Ponant Ships to Feature Complimentary Wi-Fi

Ponant, a French-owned luxury expedition cruise company, announced its ships will now offer unlimited complimentary Wi-Fi. Using a satellite connection, the service allows passengers to continuously access the internet without losing contact in most regions the company’s ships travel.

The free Wi-Fi service will be accessible for all guests regardless what stateroom they booked. It will be available in passengers’ guestrooms and the vessel’s public areas for the full duration of the sailing.

The French-owned cruise line sails luxury expeditions to destinations around the world, from the Mediterranean down to Antarctica. Other destinations include the Adriatic, the Caribbean, Africa, Alaska, the Arctic, North America, Europe, Latin America, the Pacific and Oceania, Russia and Asia.

Ponant operates a fleet of five ships that accommodate a maximum of 264 passengers. These vessels include: Le Ponant, a three-masted yacht with 32 staterooms; L’Austral, Le Boréal and Le Soléal, each with 132 staterooms; and Le Lyrial, the cruise line’s newest ship, offering 122 staterooms.

Ponant is currently at work on its next ship, the hybrid electric polar exploration vessel Le Commandant Charcot. The ship, expected to begin sailing itineraries in 2021, will be powered by liquefied natural gas, feature an advanced waste water treatment system and use electric batteries, all with the goal of lowering its environmental impact.
