As travels to Egypt are on the rise, AmaWaterways has unveiled a new optional land package in Alexandria, Egypt, designed to complement its popular “Secrets of Egypt & the Nile” itinerary. Launching this September, the three-night post-cruise extension offers guests an immersive journey into the cultural and historical treasures of Alexandria, the coastal city where Cleopatra once reigned.
The “Alexandria Land Package” adds two nights in Alexandria and one night in Cairo following the cruise and land journey that is part of AmaWaterways’ 11-night “Secrets of Egypt & the Nile” itinerary. Travelers will stay at the Four Seasons Hotel in Alexandria and explore the city’s most iconic sites, including Roman antiquities and ancient catacombs, the restored Citadel of Qaitbay, a 15th-century fortress on the Mediterranean, as well as a visit to Wadi El Natrun, one of Egypt’s most sacred Coptic pilgrimage destinations. The package concludes with a one-night stay at Le Méridien Cairo Airport Hotel before the guest's international departure.
Good to know: Every AmaWaterways land package includes daily breakfast at the hotel as well as city tours and excursions, transfers and luggage service between the guests’ hotel and river cruise ship, and the services of an AmaWaterways Cruise Manager throughout their river cruise and land journey.
This new experience enhances the “Secrets of Egypt & the Nile” program, which includes a seven-night river cruise round-trip from Luxor aboard either AmaLilia or AmaDahlia, plus a four-night Cairo stay (three nights before the cruise and one night after). Guests sail along the Nile, discovering ancient sites such as the Temple of Luxor and Valley of the Kings with expert Egyptologists as guides, and enjoying accommodations such as The St. Regis Cairo or The Ritz-Carlton Cairo, depending on the ship. The optional Alexandria land extension can be added to sailings from September through June, aligning with the existing cruise season.
Tip: Guests who book by June 30 can enjoy complimentary round-trip airfare from major U.S and Canadian gateways on select 2025 and 2026 departures, with the option to upgrade to premium or business class.
