Regent Seven Seas Cruises has officially begun construction on its newest ship, the Seven Seas Splendor, with a keel-laying event at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy. At the event the cruise line reported that, due to high demand, it is moving up the opening of Seven Seas Splendor’s 2020 inaugural European summer itineraries for bookings to July 12.
Jason Montague, president and chief executive officer of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and Shipyard Director Giovanni Stecconi commemorated the occasion by placing three coins onto the keel of the ship. In shipbuilding tradition, the coins will remain embedded within the ship’s structure for its entire life, and will invite good fortune for all who sail aboard.
Here’s the latest on what guests can expect:
A sibling vessel to the Seven Seas Explorer, the Seven Seas Splendor is an all-suite, all-balcony ship with a capacity of up to 750 guests. The 375 suites range from the 307 square foot Veranda Suite to the 4,443 square foot Regent Suite, which has a private in-suite spa with steam room, a custom heated spa on a private balcony and ceramic heated lounge beds, as well as a butler and car and driver in every port. Each suite category has a distinctive look and a private balcony, along with European king-sized Elite Slumber Beds and oversized bathrooms with marble and decorative tile.
