Four Seasons Yachts, in partnership with luxury yachting company Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings Ltd. and Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, hosted a keel-laying ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy. The ceremony commemorated the start of construction on Four Seasons I, which is scheduled to embark on its inaugural season in January 2026.
Key attendees at the ceremony included Nadim Ashi, owner and executive chair, Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings Ltd, joint owner/operator of Four Seasons Yachts, and founder and CEO of Fort Partners; Josh Leibowitz, senior advisor, Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings Ltd, joint owner/operator of Four Seasons Yachts; Fredrik Johannson, partner and executive director of Tillberg Design of Sweden.
The maritime tradition of laying the keel of a ship is the formal recognition of the start of a ship’s construction. The ceremony surrounding this event includes the welding of specially chosen coins to the bottom of the ship as a symbol of good luck and to bless the vessel. The three coins selected for the keel-laying ceremony of Four Seasons I include:
- 1984 500 Italian lira – Commemorating the year Fincantieri became an operating company
- 1961 Canadian silver dollar – Marking the year Four Seasons was founded
- 2024 American silver dollar – Symbolizing the base of operations for Four Seasons Yachts and the start of construction for Four Seasons I
Setting sail in January 2026, the all-suite Four Seasons I will offer winter and spring itineraries in the Caribbean, followed by summer itineraries in the Mediterranean. Notable features of the yacht include the 9,975-square-foot Funnel Suite’s floor-to-ceiling wraparound curved glass window modules, made up of the largest contiguous piece of glass at sea; and an onboard transverse marina with expansive openings across the vessel from port to starboard.
