Heritage Line to Launch New Voyage in Vietnam’s Bai Tu Long Bay

Heritage Line has introduced a two-night itinerary through Bai Tu Long Bay—a tranquil, lesser-known extension of Vietnam’s famed Halong Bay. Launching January 2, 2026, the new route marks a strategic shift toward slower, more immersive travel designed to foster a deeper connection to Vietnam’s coastal culture and surroundings.

Located northeast of Halong Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay is a protected marine region with limestone formations, emerald waters and far fewer visitors. With fewer than 30 vessels permitted to operate in the area and strict limits on ship size, the bay remains a destination rarely seen by international travelers.

“This new itinerary truly redefines how travelers experience Halong Bay,” said Andreas Schroetter, director of sales & marketing at Heritage Line. “Bai Tu Long offers the most authentic and peaceful cruise experience in Northern Vietnam today. It feels like Halong Bay 15 to 20 years ago—unspoiled, intimate, and full of discovery. That’s the essence of luxury we want to offer: access, space, and substance.”

Over the course of three days and two nights, travelers can enjoy guided cave explorations, kayak through hidden lagoons, visit traditional floating fishing villages and spend time on a remote beach.

Ideal for couples, intimate groups and private charters, the new itinerary will be offered onboard Violet, a Heritage Line vessel featuring just six spacious suites, each of which offers a private balcony and bay views. Guests can enjoy fine dining, spa treatments and personalized service.

The launch of the Bai Tu Long Bay itinerary coincides with the conclusion of Heritage Line’s current Halong Bay routes, which will operate through the end of 2025. Bookings for the new sailing are now open under existing pricing, with full itinerary details and updated rates to be released soon.
