Seabourn has named the expedition leaders and specialists who will sail with guests in Antarctica this season, when Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit operate 19 departures round trip from Ushuaia between November 2026 and March 2027.
Every sailing carries a 21-person expedition team, with specialties covering marine biology, wildlife research, conservation, geology, environmental science, and polar history. Team members run the shore landings, Zodiac outings, and optional kayaking, and they lead the daily briefings, lectures, and Seabourn Conversations enrichment sessions on board.
“Time and again, guests tell us that the knowledge, enthusiasm, and personal insights shared by our team members transformed the way they experienced a destination,” said Robin West, vice president of expeditions for Seabourn.
Five expedition leaders will head the Antarctica program: Luciano Bernacchi, Ignacio Rojas, Juan Restrepo, Dom del Rosario, and Fridrik Fridriksson. Joe Cockram and Sean Bercaw will serve as assistant expedition leaders. Seabourn says the group's experience includes more than 20 consecutive Antarctic seasons.
The lecturers and field experts scheduled to sail include marine mammal scientist Sean Todd, conservationist Brent Houston, ornithologist JJ Apestegui, archaeologist and Viking scholar Elizabeth Pierce, whale researcher Molly Gaughan, geologist Lori Snyder, astronomer Vishwa Rana, and seabird researcher Kim Stevens. Seabourn noted the names announced are only part of the full roster.
Most itineraries run 10 to 12 days, and select 20-day departures add South Georgia and the Falkland Islands. All Antarctica voyages include a pre-cruise hotel stay in Buenos Aires and round-trip charter flights to Ushuaia.
