Barge Lady Cruises has announced a new luxury canal barge cruise for the 2018 season. The Grand Cru journey was created specifically for wine lovers.
The vessel carries just eight guests and six crew members. The six-night, seven-day cruise will serve 22 Grand Cru wines during its course and is only available on a charter basis.
On board, meals will be prepared by the gourmet chef in an open kitchen and are paired with wine from the barge’s wine cellar. Guests can join the chef in the kitchen for cooking demonstrations with locally sourced and seasonal produce, meats, and herbs.
In addition, daily half-day excursions are part of the sightseeing itinerary. Two private Grand Cru tastings are planned during the course of the week at notable vineyards and wineries. Also scheduled are visits to Dijon and Beaune. All excursions are arranged and led by the barge’s dedicated tour guide.
The four identically sized en-suite cabins offer king beds, a vanity/dressing area, and a reading nook. On the canopied deck, guests can relax in the hot tub, while more active guests can explore the countryside on bike or foot.
The 2018 barging season is from April 22 through October 27. Cruises depart every Sunday and returns on Saturday. Included in the fare is round-trip chauffeured transfers from Paris, all meals and snacks, all wines and spirits, an open bar, daily excursions, and use of the barge’s facilities such as hybrid bicycles, digital docking stations, and a public iPad. The rate for a charter of eight ranges from $58,000 - $64,000 for the six-night cruise.
