Yacht expedition specialist Pelorus is offering a limited number of guests the chance to explore Antarctica by superyacht, from $55,000 per cabin. Normally only available for full charter, the 77-meter yacht Legend will be available for 26 guests for two weeks in December (December 6 – 13 and 13 – 20, 2019).
Legend is fully equipped for polar exploration, with everything from water toys to submersibles and helipads (latter at extra cost) onboard. The range of experiences includes wildlife encounters with chinstrap penguins, seals and indigenous sea birds and whales. Explorers will also join in with scientific research efforts with expedition leaders working with wildlife, recording the weather patterns and learning more about the history of the world as extrapolated from the ice. Guests can also take the plunge into the geothermal waters or hike up to the top of the glaciers for impressive views and sundowners.
Onboard, Legend has a 16-person Jacuzzi, screening room, Balinese spa and gym, in addition to a crew of 19. Social spaces include the piano and whiskey bars.
Pelorus puts together these journeys whilst remaining committed to protecting the planet, supporting Blue Marine Foundation and being an active member of International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators to ensure a sustainable approach to cruising these waters is maintained.
The rate includes accommodation in Punta Arenas (briefing and dinner), return flights from Punta Arenas to King George Island, all guide fees and permits, land expeditions, a visit to the polar research station, polar kayaking, polar plunge, all food and drink (excluding some premium champagnes and spirits), fuel, the ice pilot, crew and service. Flights to Punta Arenas, cancelation insurance and submersible and helicopter fees are not included. Alternatively, Pelorus can arrange charter of the whole vessel from $550,000.
Space is still available. Advisors can contact Jimmy Carroll or Geordie Mackay-Lewis, co-founders of Pelorus, at 917-512-9777 or via info@pelorusx.com.
