Ponant Explorations has introduced two new short-format Mediterranean itineraries for fall 2025. Launching November, these five-night voyages aboard Le Lapérouse capture the Mediterranean at its most authentic, when summer crowds have dispersed and coastal towns reclaim their tranquil charm. These expedition journeys present both seasoned travelers and curious first-timers with an intimate experience of cultural discovery.
Each port of call has been selected to showcase the quintessence of Mediterranean heritage. From breathtaking landscapes to world-class museums and numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites, every excursion "promises rich cultural encounters." The onshore experience is further enhanced by onboard lectures delivered by expert speakers with profound knowledge of each region, providing valuable context and deeper appreciation for the destinations visited.
The new itineraries are as follows:
- “Italian Escape: Valletta to Naples” (November 17–22, 2025) – This six-day journey departs from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Valletta. Guests will explore Sicily’s ancient wonders and the Amalfi Coast before arriving in Naples. Ports of call include Syracuse, Catania and Salerno, home to the archeological treasures of Pompeii.
- “Mediterranean Interlude: Naples to Valletta” (November 22–27, 2025) – Guests will sail from the Bay of Naples across the Mediterranean to explore Naples’ Baroque splendor beneath Mount Vesuvius. Other highlights include Palermo’s 12th-century cathedral and Teatro Massimo, Trapani, Tunisia and the Greek temples of Agrigento in Porto Empedocle.
These two complementary itineraries have no overlapping ports of call, allowing for a combination into a more extensive Mediterranean exploration. Additionally, Ponant Explorations includes one complimentary shore excursion per person at each stopover.
About the ship: All staterooms and suites onboard Le Lapérouse have private balconies. The ship’s wellness facilities include a spa, sauna and a fitness room. Guests can enjoy cuisine showcasing fresh, locally sourced ingredients, elegant décor in soothing neutral tones and attentive service.
