Bespoke travel outfitter Natural World Safaris has announced a new departure to Antarctica in October 2020 led by fine-art photographer, David Yarrow. As one of few opportunities to travel with and learn from Yarrow, guests will discover untamed wilderness in the Falkland Islands, rolling hills of South Georgia and the frozen Antarctica Peninsula.
This expedition is a unique opportunity to spend time with David Yarrow, learn his craft and traverse glaciers and tundra to capture scenic images. One of David’s polar prints—78 Degrees North—was captured on a Natural World Safaris voyage and recently sold at auction for £81,250 (approximately $106,589).
Guests can partake in photography workshops hosted by David and expert photographer Andrew James, and listen to lectures from the expedition team. The tabular icebergs, floating ice sheets and panoramas of the Antarctic and Sub Antarctic are all ideal for landscape photography.
The voyage also provides wildlife-sightings, from exploring penguin rookeries, whale watching and identifying seabirds with onboard naturalists. Travelers can set foot on land or enjoy the snow-capped vistas from the comfort of the ship's on-deck hot tub.
Guests will travel onboard Akademik Ioffe, originally a scientific research vessel.
Natural World Safaris offers the 20-day Wild Antarctica Safari includes transfers, 20 nights’ accommodation aboard Akademik Ioffe, all meals and lectures on board and shore landings.
