Scenic Group celebrated the float-out of Scenic Eclipse II, its second ultra-luxury Discovery Yacht, at a shipyard in Croatia. Managing the yacht's construction process is MKM Yachts, a division of the Scenic Group.
Scenic Eclipse II is scheduled to launch in April 2023, with a maiden voyage from Lisbon, Portugal, to Barcelona, Spain. Measuring 551 feet long and 71 feet wide, the ship, a sister to Scenic Eclipse, is Polar Class 6 (Ice Class 1A Super). Passenger capacity is 228 guests (200 maximum in polar regions).
This latest vessel will have several enhancements, though, following feedback from guests and crew who sailed on Scenic Eclipse, which launched in 2019. In addition to new features in the Senses Spa, Scenic Eclipse II will have a newly designed outdoor pool and Panorama Bar on its top deck. The new yacht will also carry a next-generation, custom-made submarine, Scenic Neptune II. The eight-passenger sub will have the capability of diving to a depth of 650 feet.
“This is a big and important moment for all of us at Scenic," remarked Glen Moroney, chairman and founder, Scenic Group. "Scenic Eclipse II represents improved vision of our pioneering approach in the world of ultra-luxury cruising."
Scenic Eclipse II is on schedule for completion by April 2023 and will join her sister on itineraries to the Mediterranean, Scotland, the Americas, the Caribbean and both Polar regions. In 2024, Scenic Eclipse II will also visit Polynesia and Indonesia and Australia, where Scenic was founded 37 years ago. Itineraries range from nine to 23 days.
