Sea Cloud Cruises will once again transform the lounges of Sea Cloud II and Sea Cloud Spirit into concert venues for talents from the Steinway Artist family. Housing a Steinway & Sons piano onboard and spotlighting select artists, both windjammers will sail side-by side on a musical voyage from Malaga to Las Palmas from November 2-11, 2024.
The nine-day itinerary beginning in Malaga includes Gibraltar, Tangier, Casablanca, Agadir, Arrecife and Las Palmas. Tip: An additional two-day overnight program from Casablanca to Agadir from November 6-8 is available; it includes a stay at Hotel Les Jardins de la Koutoubia in Marrakech, a transfer to Marrakech with a city tour of Casablanca, and a Marrakech city tour including a visit to the Medina and Souk, Majorelle Gardens and the Berber Museum.
Sea Cloud Spirit will host artists Chris Hopkins and David Blenkhorn. Equally adept on piano and saxophone, Hopkins has been a renowned figure on the international jazz scene for three decades. He has played more than 4,000 concerts worldwide and has contributed to approximately 50 album productions. At the opening concert at the Automobile Museum in Málaga, Hopkins will stage a virtuoso evening, and aboard Sea Cloud Spirit, he will perform alongside Australian David Blenkhorn, one of the most esteemed guitarists on the international jazz scene.
Composer, multi-instrumentalist and arranger Joachim Horsley is an American pianist who arranges the works of classical music’s great composers and infuses them with Afro-Caribbean rhythms. Aboard Sea Cloud Spirit, he will be accompanied by percussionist Murph Aucamp, who studied classical percussion but early on discovered his love for Cuban music, learning Rumba in the streets of Miami and South Florida.
Sea Cloud II, on the other hand, will host pianist Helge Antoni. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras, as well as a recital and chamber musician throughout Europe, North and South America. On his albums, he interprets piano works by Sinding, Grieg, Rossini and Chopin/Field.
Additionally, the Świgut Sisters will showcase the diversity of their musical talents on different instruments. Aleksandra Świgut is a pianist, hailed by critics as one of the most expressive personalities on the classical music scene, and her sister, violinist Agnieszka Świgut, works as a soloist and orchestral musician with the Royal Stockholm Opera Orchestra.
