Seabourn has unveiled new expedition itineraries between early May 2022 and late October 2022 for Seabourn Venture, the ultra-luxury line’s first PC6 expedition ship. Sixteen voyages ranging from 10 to 15 days will sail waters of the Arctic, Caribbean, Central America and South America. Select voyages can be combined for sailings of up to 29 days in length.
(Seabourn Venture is the line’s first dedicated expedition ship, although Seabourn has been offering expedition-style experiences, including Zodiac, kayak and hiking excursions, since 2013 during cruises to Antarctica, Alaska, the Amazon, Northern Europe, Greenland, Iceland and Australasia.)
Highlights of Seabourn Venture’s expedition itineraries for summer and fall 2022 include:
Arctic, Greenland and Iceland
Starting May 4, 2022 and continuing through July 2022, Seabourn Venture’s Arctic summer season will begin halfway between Norway’s North Cape and the North Pole as the ship will embark guests for eight 11-day Arctic Svalbard summer cruises between Tromso and Longyearbyen; those cruises include a return flight to Oslo.
Following those voyages and continuing through September 2022, the ship will operate five 11- to 15-day voyages in the region, visit Svalbard, the North Cape and other locations in Norway, as well as take guests to Iceland, Greenland, and the Canadian Arctic Archipelago in Nunavut.
Highlights will include Scoresby Sound, Greenland; Sermilik Fjord in Greenland, which is known for its icebergs; Svalbard; and Pond Inlet, Nunavut, the eastern entry to the Northwest Passage. The voyages can also be combined for an in-depth experience up to 29 days in length.
Caribbean, Central America and South America
In October 2022, Seabourn Venture will sail southward, with visits to Bermuda, the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile. During three 10- to 14-day voyages, there will be opportunities to explore in Zodiacs, kayak and snorkel as well as visit ancient Incan sites.
The season will finish with "Sailing the Humboldt Route," which departs from Callao (Lima), Peru, on October 26, 2022, and arrives 12 days later in San Antonio, Chile. Travelers will visit the Chilean destinations of Isla Pan De Azucar, the National Humboldt Penguin Reserve, and Coquimbo, known for its seafood.
Guests may also book back-to-back cruises for a longer and more immersive voyage lasting up to 26 days.
Onboard Seabourn Venture
Onboard Seabourn Venture, guests will stay in 132 oceanfront suites and enjoy indoor and outdoor public spaces designed by Adam Tihany. Two custom-built submarines, expedition kayaks and 24 Zodiacs (accommodating all guests at once) will be carried onboard.
The ship's expedition team will consist of 26 wilderness experts, scientists, historians and naturalists, who will lead Zodiac and kayak adventures and other activities off the ship. Onboard, they're also part of the Seabourn Conversations program, providing lectures and insight into the history, ecology and culture of the places they visit.
