Silversea Cruises Partners with Luxury Glassmaker Lalique

Silversea Cruises has announced a new collaboration with French luxury glassmaker Lalique. Noted for its decorative items, interior design and artworks, Lalique will craft decorative crystal artworks onboard two Silversea ships, the Silver Shadow and the Silver Moon. The artworks will be featured in the ships’ French gourmet restaurant La Dame.

Using French expertise and craftmanship, the restaurants’ designs will include several handmade Lalique crystal panels. The works of art will be entirely bespoke, the cruise line said, with each taking approximately three months to craft.

Positioned at the restaurants’ entrances and along their walls, the hand-crafted panels will incorporate two main motifs, both of which were imagined by Lalique’s founder, René Lalique, in 1935: one is the Masque de Femme, a design which reveals the face of a mysterious nymph with delicate features, surrounded by aquatic life, while the other is Coutard, a geometric pattern representing a spray of fine transparent water droplets and evoking the appearance of waves in the ocean. The symmetrical layout of the panels will be inspired by traditional French design.

During Silver Shadow’s refurbishment in November 2019, La Dame will be remodeled and expanded to accommodate up to 40 diners. Aboard Silver Moon, La Dame will be positioned on deck 8 and will increase in size, welcoming almost triple the number of guests. Silver Moon is due to launch in August 2020.
