Abercrombie & Kent has announced the name of its new Peruvian Amazon riverboat: Pure Amazon. The riverboat is planned for launch in mid-2025, with pre-registration open now and sales opening in August 2024.
A&K has also shared the first look at Pure Amazon’s interiors, designed by A&K Travel Group’s architect, Adriana Granato, of the Milan-based architecture and research practice Studio Ibsen, in collaboration with local artisans. Complete with expansive windows, Pure Amazon offers 10 suites and two single cabins. Each space will have handcrafted furnishings made from locally sourced materials.
The riverboat also calls for an array of spaces, including indoor and outdoor lounges. The dining room will have a menu that celebrates the region’s diverse culinary traditions, crafted using locally sourced ingredients.
At the wellness room, guests can enjoy treatments inspired by traditional Amazonian healing practices, while yoga sessions on the observation deck will provide a serene start to each day. Additionally, the onboard gym will offer equipment alongside river views.
A&K’s signature itineraries will include a journey into the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. Led by expert guides, guests can embark on guided nature walks to spot sloths, monkeys and birds or glide through the lagoons in search of pink river dolphins. Exclusive visits to local villages offer a window into traditional ways of life and the opportunity to support community-led conservation initiatives.
For those seeking more active adventures, Pure Amazon offers an array of experiences such as kayaking through winding tributaries, fishing for piranha in the black waters of the Samiria River or joining a night excursion to witness the rain forest’s nocturnal creatures.
As with all A&K travel experiences, Pure Amazon is committed to responsible tourism and sustainability. In partnership with local organizations, the riverboat supports vital conservation projects, including the protection of the endangered charapa turtle and the preservation of the Amazon’s pink river dolphin. Guests are encouraged to participate in these efforts, fostering a deeper connection to the rain forest and its inhabitants.
The riverboat will be highlights on A&K’s small group journeys and customized itineraries, including three- or four-night itineraries, or a combination of both on a seven-night cruise.
