Windstar’s New Star Seeker Begins Inaugural Alaska Season

Windstar Cruises is opening bookings for its 2028 Alaska season aboard Star Seeker — the line's newest yacht, which is currently making its inaugural Alaska run this month.

The 2028 program spans 27 departures across six itineraries, sailing May through August, with a mix of seven-day voyages, 10- to 12-day journeys, Cruise Tours to Denali National Park, and extended Star Collector sailings. Several itineraries are designed as clean one-week vacations departing and returning from Juneau. Advisors booking clients before June 30 can take advantage of Windstar's Early Booking Offer for preferred fares and suite selection; clients who pay in full at booking can stack an additional five percent savings through the "Pay Now, Save More" promotion.

"Alaska is a place that rewards a more thoughtful way of traveling," said Tom Schofield, captain of Star Seeker. "What excites me most is the access Star Seeker allows — navigating deep into fjords, getting right up to glaciers, and connecting with smaller communities along the way. There's a sense of discovery here that stays with you. From the moment guests arrive, the experience feels deeply immersive, and I'm proud to share it during our inaugural season."

The small-ship format is central to the pitch. At 224 guests across 112 suites, Star Seeker is built to get into the tight spots that larger ships can't reach — deep into fjords like Endicott Arm, up close to glaciers, and into lesser-known ports like Wrangell. Signature Expeditions depart directly from the ship via guided kayak and Zodiac outings, with Expedition Guides sailing onboard throughout each voyage. Nearly all accommodations include a private veranda or floor-to-ceiling infinity window.

On the culinary side, Windstar's partnership with the James Beard Foundation shapes a destination-driven menu program built around Alaskan ingredients — salmon, halibut, crab, venison, and local honey and jams among them — with multiple dining venues including specialty restaurant Basil + Bamboo. Enrichment speakers and cultural performers join every sailing.
