Abercrombie & Kent, a luxury travel company founded in 1962, has announced its Connections Boutique Group Journeys for 2019. The program includes trips to Greece, Finland and Switzerland.
Within the itineraries, travelers can do activities like taking dogsledding lessons or preparing regional Greek dishes with a family or visiting the flower auction at Aalsmeer. New trips for 2019 include:
Greece: Athens & the Aegean: Travelers can see antiques of the ancient world and meet locals sticking to the old ways of farming, handicrafts and business. They can also learn Greek cuisine at a private in-home cooking class or pay a visit to an organic cosmetics producer to learn about traditional Greek beauty products. Something that is available to see is the Minoan Bronze Age settlement of Akrotiri (reputed to be Atlantis), known for its frescoes. The itinerary includes a private yacht cruise around the southern coast of Santorini. 10 days from $6,495
Northern Lights of Lapland: Travelers can go to the northernmost part of Europe for winter excursions including a cruise on an icebreaker with the chance to swim in a specially-designed floatation suit. They can stay overnight in an ice hotel and try ice fishing or sculpting snow. Also available are two nights sleeping under a glass dome to see the Northern Lights. Includes active options such as snowmobiling, snowshoeing and dog sledding. Nine days from $8,395
Switzerland & the Rhine: Travelers can sail the Rhine from Amsterdam to Basel on this new trip and see Holland’s flower auction or soak in the Alps from the top of Mount Pilatus. Also available is a sampling of local cheese in Edam, beer in Cologne, wine in Rüdesheim and Strasbourg, and chocolate in Zurich, as well as five exclusive meals on shore. Guests can learn about art restoration at the Douwes Fine Art gallery. 11 days from $8,495
