Austin Adventures, a family-owned-and-operated travel outfitter, is increasing its programming by adding 22 brand-new excursions for 2019. These include hiking programs (a major focus for the company) and an expanded portfolio of small-ship cruises. In total, Austin Adventures offers more than 80 individual itineraries.
New programs include:
Alberta – Banff Hike Adventure: A six-day trip to Banff National Park and the Canadian Rockies.
Arizona / Utah – Grand Canyon to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks: This explores three of America's national parks over eight days and seven nights.
Portugal – Active Azores: Hikes, kayak excursions and bike rides over nine days, which culminates in the vineyards of Pico Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where guests can sample wines with tsars.
Switzerland / Italy – Lugano to Como: A trip to the Alps, as well as the Matterhorn and Apennines. Guests walk up to nine miles a day for six days.
Austin Adventures is adding small ship cruises, ranging from 12 to 200 passengers, that include:
Baja – Sea of Cortez: This is an eight-day program aboard the 232-foot Safari Endeavour that accommodates up to 84 guests. Activities include snorkeling with sea lion pups and wildlife spotting (such as humpback, gray, pilot and blue wales, whale sharks, dolphins, sea turtles and stingrays).
Hawaiian Seascapes: An eight-day tropical cruise through an island paradise aboard the 36-guest, 145-foot Safari Explorer. The itinerary visits four islands with time set for snorkeling in reefs, paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking, touring local farms and museums and naturalist-led nighttime wildlife encounters.
Costa Rica / Panama: San Jose to Panama Canal is a nine-day exploration (including the traversing of the Canal), where guests can enjoy the tropical coasts, beaches and wildlife refuges aboard the 174-foot expedition vessel Safari Voyager.
Also good to know is 2019 pricing will be at 2018 levels on over half of the existing departures. A full roster of 2019 itineraries is available in a new 60-page catalog that can be ordered or downloaded online.
