While most might think that Cape Cod is just for the summer, there’s still plenty to do once fall rolls around. Five-star Wequassett Resort and Golf Club is offering specialty programming to celebrate the season.
Programs include:
- Cranberry Bog Tour: This guided bike tour will explore the area’s iconic floating cranberry bogs. Afterwards a special tasting menu will be offered to celebrate the fruit of the season.
- Oyster and Beach Plum Picnic: Guests will be taken on a private tour of the Oyster River and Oyster Pond before a private picnic on the Outer Beach with oysters. There will also be a short excursion to look for the elusive beach plums.
- Chatham Oyster Expedition: Traveling by barge, guests will sail across the Oyster River and Oyster Pond to the nearby reefs. During the 90-minute trip, they will learn how oysters are harvested and the history of Pleasant Bay. The journey ends with a fresh oyster tasting from the day’s catch and a champagne pairing.
- Immerse in Craft Brew: During this trip, guests will take a tour of the Hog Island Beer Company and take part in a beer tasting. Afterwards, guests can enjoy live music, upscale pub food, corn hole and other games while sampling local beers.
There’s also of plenty of public events happening on the Cape during the fall.
Harwich Arts & Music Cranberry Festival takes place September 16-17: Located Held at the Brooks Park on Oak Street in Harwich, the yearly festival features food, live music, a craft show, and a parade.
Considered the “Largest Scallop Festival on the East Coast," the Scallop Festival offers music, entertainment, a professional arts and crafts show, rides, games and plenty of scallops. Set to take place September 22-24, more than three tons of scallops will be served to over 50,000 visitors.
One of the most popular events is the annual two-day Wellfleet OysterFest. The street party celebrates the town's famous oysters, clams and shellfishing traditions. Highlights include local cuisine, arts and crafts, children's activities, educational exhibits, live music and the Oyster Shuck-Off competition. Wequassett resort will be offering room packages and transportation to the festival which takes place October 14-15.
