Luxury Travel Advisor recently spoke with Fernando Flores, the general manager at The Resort at Pedregal, in our New York City office. We heard about new details from the property, here’s what travelers need to know.
This exclusive hotel is only accessible by the private Dos Mares tunnel however it is just minutes from the center of Cabo San Lucas, which is known for its lively nightlife. This resort welcomes both families and couples alike, plus each of the 112 rooms come with a private terrace and at least one plunge pool. We suggest that both families and couples take advantage of the personal concierges, which every guest is given. These concierges can create memorable activities like a sunset cruise on the Pacific Ocean and spa reservations at the 12,000-square-foot Luna y Mar Spa. The name of the spa is inspired by the moon, the sea and Mexican folk healing. As for the treatments, The Aquatic Massage will invite guests into a warm pool where breath work, water massage and yoga-like stretches increase motion, circulation and relieve tension and stress. Fitness junkies will be happy to hear that the hotel also includes CrossFit in its wellness programs.
After a day at the spa, we suggest retreating back to the room (families, consider booking a two- or three-bedroom accommodation). Each guestroom is filled with cultural touches like the commissioned works of art created by renowned artists, and don't forget about those plunge pools. When the sun sets, head to the popular seafood restaurant El Farallon, which provides views of the Pacific Ocean. This restaurant is popular, ask the concierge about setting a reservation. Here, guests will also find the recently added Champagne Terrace. This new experience provides guests with more than 15 different Champagnes, ranging from Blanc de Blancs to Rose to Vintage. The best part? These bubbly delights are paired with imported cheeses and artisan salts, including black lava salt. We also hear that The Resort at Pedregal has just named Jose Maria Aguirre the new wine director of the resort. He will oversee the wine selections at the hotel’s different restaurants and bars, including the wine cellar and Champagne Terrace.
Foodies should stay tuned, the resort will also host the fifth annual Art of Taste Food & Wine festival from October 26-30, 2016. This year’s theme will be Mexico’s Day of the Dead holiday. The event will include top chefs, winemakers and mixologists from around the world. Note: Tickets are limited, visit www.theresortatpedregal.com.
Luxury Travel Advisor is also excited about an experiential journey happening in Los Cabos this spring. Adventure-seeking travelers will want to book the surfing package being offered at The Cape, a Thompson Hotel. The Cape, in Cabo San Lucas, is set along the popular surfer spot, Monuments Beach. This May from the 19-22, it will host, in partnership with the travel production company MANSA VIDA, a surfing-inspired retreat lead by surf veteran Tim Curran, pro-surfer Damien Hobgood and surf photographer Tom Servais. During the three-night experience, guests will ride the waves with Curran and Hobgood. Clients will even be able to test out the pros’ surfboards and receive coaching.
Other highlights include watching cult surf films on the sixth-story rooftop lounge, a question-and-answer session with Servais, a live, acoustic concert led by Curran (also a singer and songwriter) and daily yoga. Accommodations, select sporting gear and a round-trip airport transfer are also included. Guests may opt to stay in The Surfer Villa, which is a three-bedroom, posh hideaway. The room includes a fully equipped kitchen, a gaming room with a pool table, a barbeque, sauna, private outdoor patio and a plunge pool. With these touches, guests may be tempted to extend their stay, which is possible. Note: It is open to surfers of all levels. To book, contact the hotel directly at 877 793 8527.
