Family Beach Resorts in Mexico

We know your A-listers are looking for the ideal resort in Mexico that will keep the adults relaxed and pampered and the children well tended to. These high-end resorts, all in secluded havens in Mexico, provide a sophisticated venue for adults and ensure that the little ones will be energized all day and then tuckered out for bed in no time.

St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, which first opened in 2008, is usually credited with putting the little-known destination of Punta Mita on the map, and for good reason.

We hear that the top accommodations here can be found in No. 2101, the Amanecer-Presidential Suite. Nice Touch: This large three-bedroom suite is in a separate private villa directly on the beach with marvelous views of the beach and the ocean. The room also has a private outdoor shower, a separate indoor shower, a very large terrace with chairs and sun beds, and more. Chic Soak: This suite also boasts a private pool and Jacuzzi on its terrace, overlooking the beach and the ocean.

Note: All of the resort’s suites offer the signature St. Regis Butler Service.

For Mom: The Remède Spa has 10 enclaves, including two couples’ treatment rooms, two Vichy rooms and one luxury suite for two. In-room treatments are available as well. Note: Special bridal packages can be arranged at the spa, where signature services including customized facials, massages and indulgent body treatments can be booked. In addition, the spa’s salon can provide hair and makeup services for an entire wedding party. Tip: Book treatments 24 hours in advance. Contact Sabrina Alvarez (remedespapuntamita@stregis.com; 011-52-329-291-5847), for special spa requests.

For Dad: “Pacifico” and “Bahia,” Punta Mita’s two Jack Nicklaus signature golf courses, both are easily accessible from the resort. Concierge Marisol Carranza (marisol.carranza@stregis.com; 011-52-329-291-5844) can secure guests’ tee-time reservations and arrange for proper equipment and transportation.

Guest Rooms
Guest Rooms At Now Amber Puerto Vallarta can come with two double beds.

For the kids: La Tortuga Children’s Club at St. Regis Punta Mita offers creative activities for children ages 5-12 years. Nice Touch: Facilities include a Children’s Spa, sand box, multi-use court and cozy nap room. Additional activities offered at La Tortuga include Discovery Walk, Treasure Hunt, piñata making, handicrafts, painting lessons, board games, Mexican lottery and bingo.

Note: Children won’t have to say good-bye to their pets as The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort welcomes little critters at the resort. The resort permits one dog or cat (18 pounds or less per room). Tip: The resort provides a pet bed, food and water bowls with a floor mat, a pet turndown gift placed on the pet bed, a litter box and more.

Tip: Book VIPs at Carolina restaurant, which is only one of three Mexican restaurants to win the AAA Five Diamond Award. We suggest dining on the terrace. Luxury travel advisors should book 24 hours in advance. Contact Restaurant Manager Jean Pierre Mendoza (jeanpierre.mendoza@stregis.com; 011-52-329-291-5800).

Note: The SPG Kids Pass program is an all-inclusive dining program. For a flat daily rate, children (ages 12 and younger) of Starwood Preferred Guest members can take advantage of all-inclusive access to a variety of dining options, including children’s menus, buffets (when available), and beverages at select participating resorts.

Tip: Sign up for the SPG Kids Pass program when you check in or at any time throughout your stay.

The most requested rooms at this resort are the Penthouses, which range from one to three bedrooms. Each has its own Jacuzzi and private terrace and offers views of the Sea of Cortez and the famous Land’s End. Nice Touch: All 13 Penthouses have a name of a plant of the desert. A popular one is the Penthouse Agave, a three-bedroom, 4,500-square-foot hang out that has five closets; three 32-inch, flat-screen TVs; and an oceanview Jacuzzi.

Tip: For a small family, perhaps your VIPs would be more suited in any of the resort’s Two Bedroom Suites. The main room includes a living area, a dining area and full kitchen.

Nice Touch: Families can arrange for a private chef to prepare meals through the “A Matter of Taste” in-suite chef services. This is a great option if the family wants to plan a special celebration or wants to have specific meals served for them throughout their vacation.

Luxury travel advisors should contact Miriam Reuter (miriam.reuter@casadorada.com; 011-52-624-163-5757), guest services manager, for any special needs for their clients, including butler service or access to cribs, mobile phone rentals, and other amenities.

Tip: Families can go to the private beach club to swim, snorkel, jet ski or parasail. The hotel can organize horseback riding on the five-acre pristine Medano Beach shoreline or dolphin swims. The concierge can help guests go on deep sea fishing expeditions or tours into the mystical town of Todos Santos.

At the resort’s Saltwater Spa, A-listers have the choice of 10 treatments cabins, including a couples’ cabin. There is a men’s and women’s steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi and relaxation area.

The best restaurant for families here is 12 Tribes, serving fresh local seafood and international cuisine. Parents can order lobster enchilada or blackened tuna while children can enjoy tortilla soup and quesadillas.

Luxury travel advisors should contact Franck Ginape (franck.ginape@casadorada.com) in the sales department with questions.

Now Amber Puerto Vallarta, a luxury resort for families by AMResorts, is expected to open this month. The most requested premium accommodations are likely to be the Preferred Club suites. The resort has more than 14,000 square feet of spa facilities, combining hydrotherapy and pampering treatments. Hint: Book treatments at least three weeks in advance.

For your younger VIPs, the resort offers the Explorer’s Club for Kids. This fully supervised program entertains ages 3-12 with different daily programs based on science, nature and exploration. Note: All Explorer’s Club personnel are American Red Cross certified.

For Teens: Now Amber offers the Core Zone Teens Club for teenagers ages 13-17 to cut loose and have a good time while mom and dad do the same. Open from 9 a.m. until midnight, the Core Zone has nightly entertainment, daily activities and an array of sports and games.
