Lindsey Epperly, of Travel Edge in Atlanta, GA says the rise of the mega-moon is a major trend for luxury honeymoons. “We see couples combining luxury destinations that span across multiple countries, if not multiple continents, in a way that makes their honeymoon unique only to them. It’s not the usual cross-country Europe trip — think instead of a combination of Paris and Mauritius, Tokyo and Maui — you name it.”
She tells Luxury Travel Advisor that couples seem to be more willing to travel to farther-flung destinations in the name of a unique honeymoon. “We’re definitely seeing requests for new spots; three C’s come to mind: Cambodia, Colombia and Croatia,” says Epperly.
She is enamored of the new Park Hyatt St. Kitts because it offers a new take on a luxury Caribbean getaway for a couple who wants a more traditional beach destination. Looking for something a little more unique? Epperly just spent several days at the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle in Chiang Rai, Thailand and says it’s her new favorite romantic spot in the world.
“Think spa treatments in a suspended pavilion above a rainforest, a day spent with the elephants and their guides, indulging in amazing food and the romance of a luxury tented accommodation with its own hot tub,” she says.
