Natural World Safaris has announced a new Aperture by NWS safari to explore Greenland’s east coast. Led by expert photographer Andrew James, this expedition aboard the small ship M/S Freya departs in August 2018. On this itinerary, guests will explore Scoresby Sound, the largest fjord system in the world, then pay a visit to the King Oscar and Kaiser Franz Joseph fjords.
Travelers can also head on land for hikes across the tundra in search of muskox, Arctic fox and other wildlife, and for a visit to the Inuit settlement of Ittoqqortoormiit to meet the local Inuit people and understand their way of life.
Andrew James is a professional photographer, writer and tutor with experience as a photographic guide in South Georgia, the Falkland Islands and Antarctica. James will offer practical guidance and tips to guests throughout the trip. The rest of the expedition team will also educate on the wildlife and history of the region.
The M/S Freya's small size means she can navigate close to land and wildlife areas that other ships cannot reach. Offering single and twin cabins, the ship sleeps a total of 16 guests. During the trip, passengers can take advantage of a fully stocked bar, dining room and sauna.
Natural World Safaris offers the 11-day Greenland East Coast Photographic Wilderness Expedition from approximately $11,076 per person, for a Twin Cabin, or from $20,774 for a Single Cabin, traveling August 4 to 14, 2018. The price includes transfers, 10 nights’ accommodations, all meals and lectures on board and shore landings.
