Red Savannah Highlights Destinations to Visit in 2019

Red Savannah, a luxury travel company that designs tailor-made journeys around the world, has just announced the destinations travelers should have on their lists for 2019. Guests can unwind in the African savanna at new luxury lodges in Namibia, attend one of the largest religious festivals on the planet in India, arrive by zipline into a camp in Cambodia, get up close to African and Brazilian wildlife, explore the emerging destination of Hampi in India, and more. 

Rwanda

With the reintroduction of lions and rhinoceroses, Rwanda’s Akagera National Park is now home to the Big Five – lions, leopards, rhinoceroses, elephants, and buffalo. Opening this December is Magashi, a brand-new safari camp in Akagera National Park. Guests who book Red Savannah’s new Big Five & Gorillas in Rwanda itinerary will have the chance to stay in one of six tents and explore national parks. Rates start at $11,248 per person, based on two people, for ten days and include accommodations, daily breakfast, private transfers, all guide services and fees as listed, and internal flights where detailed.

Namibia

Brand new premium lodges complement safari experiences making Namibia a destination for 2019. The Skeleton Coast Safari by Red Savannah offers travelers the chance to relax at Omaanda, a new lodge by Zannier Hotels. Zimbabwe

Red Savannah’s new Waterways of Zimbabwe itinerary offers a safari experience. Visitors will enjoy exploring Victoria Falls, a game drive through Mana Pools National Park, canoeing down the Zambezi River, and fishing in Lake Kariba. Guests will have the chance to stay in the Victoria Falls River Lodge, overlooking the Zambezi River, which recently launched four new Island Treehouse Suites and a Starbed Treehouse beneath the cool canopy on Kandahar Island. Hampi, Karnataka, India

Hampi is now accessible to the public due the launch of Kishkinda Camp, a new mobile tented camp, which is offering luxury accommodation in the area for the first time. Red Savannah’s Mumbai, Hampi & Kerala itinerary takes visitors throughout these three cities where they will discover Mumbai’s art scene and watch the Mumbai Dabbawalas at work, explore the ruins of the Vijayanagar Empire in Hampi, and enjoy an Ayurvedic Spa, yoga, meditation, and relaxation in Kerala. Nagaland, India

Nagaland will be celebrating the Hornbill Festival from December 1-10. This magnificent cultural celebration includes colorful dances, songs, archery, Naga wrestling, literature, film, and a chili eating contest, and is the highlight of Red Savannah’s Delhi, Kolkata & Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival itinerary.

Allahabad, Uttarpradesh, India

Every 12 years, Ardh Kumbh Mela, a religious festival is held at Allahabad, and in 2019 it will take place from January 15 to March 4. Red Savannah is offering travelers a chance to take part in this festival with the India’s Kumbh Mela Festival itinerary. Guests will stay in the luxury camp, Sangam Nivas. During the festival, Red Savannah guides take guests down to the River Ganga banks to witness the rites of worship and give visitors the opportunity to take a boat to the river confluence to view some of the best scenes of the Ardh Kumbh Mela.

Agra, India

After a year of restoration to combat the negative effects of pollution, the dome of the Taj Mahal will be uncovered in early 2019 and Red Savannah guests will be able to enjoy a sunset tour of this site with the Delhi, Agra & Rajasthan in Style itinerary. Cambodia

In recent years, Cambodia has seen a surge of new luxury hotels and adventures, making the kingdom a destination itself. On the new Angkor Temples, Mountains & Islands of Cambodia itinerary, guests will explore the temples of Angkor, meet a veteran of the civil war at the War Museum Cambodia, and enjoy dinner in a rice paddy near Siem Reap before heading south to the Cardamom Mountains. Puebla, Mexico

Puebla is one of the three cities highlighted in Red Savannah’s new Culinary in Mexico foodie itinerary. For the beginning of this journey, guests will visit local markets to buy fresh produce and spices, learn how to cook various salsas, taste chocolate at Que Bo, and enjoy staying at the St. Regis Mexico City. In Puebla, visitors will eat and cook their way through the city and relax in the comfort of the Casa Reyna. Guests can also choose to stay at the new Rosewood Puebla and Hotel Cartesiano. Rates start at $6,192 per person for 12 days and include accommodations, daily breakfast, internal flight from Oaxaca to Mexico City, private transportation, and guide services and fees.

Pantanal, Brazil

New in Brazil, Red Savannah travelers now have the option to embark on Peralta – the first luxury expedition boat in Pantanal, the world’s largest tropical wetland. Peralta offers guests an “on-water” view, or for those preferring land, the Araras Eco Lodge provides comfort as part of the Brazil Wildlife Adventure itinerary. 

Highlights of the trip include exploring the Amazon rainforest during nocturnal walks and observing the region’s wildlife, navigating the flooded forests and tributaries of the Amazon by canoe, and taking a cable car to visit the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio. Rates start at $5,534 per person for ten days and include accommodations, daily breakfast in Rio and Manaus, all meals and tours in the Pantanal and the Amazon, and domestic flights.

Italy

Red Savannah invites travelers to explore Leonardo Davinci’s art and architecture as well as the food and culture of Tuscany, while staying in one of their private villas. Red Savannah will arrange a tour which combines a visit to the artist’s home town of Vinci, to witness the birthplace (and museum) of Leonardo, followed by a trip to Florence in the company of Italo Castore, former Professor of Architecture of the University of Florence. This tour is included for guests staying at Villa San Casciano located in Chianti, just 40 minutes from Vinci and Florence.

Villa San Casciano, located just outside Florence, is positioned as the gateway to the Chianti villages and is set within 30 acres of forest, olive groves, and walnut trees. Rates start at $5,322 per week for 12 people and include a gardener and pool maintenance once per week.

Guests travelling to Florence this winter will be able to catch a temporary exhibition displaying the famous Codex Leicester – a manuscript of scientific writings by Da Vinci, lent to the city of Florence by its owner, Bill Gates (exhibition October 29 – January 20). In central Florence, the two-bedroom apartment, La Viscontina, offers views of Florence’s historic center and is ideal for couples and small families. Rates start at $2,485 per week for four people. The Palazzo del Marchese is a top floor apartment with views of the Duomo and located minutes away from restaurants, boutique shops, and famous art galleries including the Uffizi Gallery.
