A former home for a member of the Medici family (a 16th-century Florentine banking family), Villa La Massa, overlooking the Arno River and Chianti, has finished a complete restoration of a 19th-century farmhouse located on the grounds of the historical site. Working in collaboration with local architects and artisans, the Villa’s owners worked to combine authentic Florentine style with modern technology. The addition of Casa Colonica, an over 6,000-foot farmhouse, brings the hotel’s total number of rooms to more than 40.
Dating back to the middle of the 19th century and situated in front of the Noble Villa, the Casa includes four new Suites (including a Junior Suite), each with private bathrooms. The property’s renovated kitchen has ceramics, stone and wood. On the first floor, the Suite and Junior Suite may share a small garden.
The décor, Villa La Massa says, is classically Tuscan, and the interior decorations are handcrafted by local artisans. Each Suite is different. The property’s internal courtyard has wrought-iron chairs and incapsulated by the smell of fresh jasmine.
The Casa Colonica and The Villino – another recent addition to Villa La Massa – are bookable in entirety to guarantee full privacy to guests. Villa La Massa is part of Villa d’Este Hotels and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
