Westlife sang “Over seas and coast to coast,” and Kimpton appears to have been listening.

Fresh off the recent openings of Kimpton El Castelar Polanco, Kimpton Nine Trees Shanghai, and Kimpton Ashbel New York, the IHG Hotels & Resorts-affiliated boutique hotel brand has opened Kimpton Quinta da Marinha on Portugal’s Atlantic coast.

Located between the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and the Atlantic Ocean, the 194-room resort comprises 180 guest rooms, eight suites and six signature suites overlooking the forest, golf course or Atlantic coastline.

When guests can tear themselves away from the views, they can indulge in restorative treatments in the Natur Spa which boasts seven treatment rooms, a sauna, and Jacuzzi. There are also indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis and padel courts, plus a championship 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones.

The interiors of the hotel have been designed with warm neutral shades, natural textures, Portuguese craftsmanship, and botanical accents inspired by the surrounding landscape.

“We want every stay to feel personal, inspiring, and deeply connected to this destination. Kimpton’s signature warmth and individuality in every aspect of our work, from check-in to check-out, combined with the heritage of Quinta da Marinha, create an experience unlike any other in the region” said Paulo Jorge Costa das Neves Figueiredo, General Manager of Kimpton Quinta da Marinha.

And of course, it wouldn’t be Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants if the food wasn’t worth traveling for. At Ao Ponto, open-flame cooking takes center stage, and guests can enjoy premium meats, local seafood, and seasonal Portuguese produce fresh from the grill. For a more laidback alternative, they can visit FICA! which serves petiscos, cocktails and local wines, while the outdoor pool bar takes care of drinks between dips.

“Kimpton Quinta da Marinha offers a new way to experience Cascais. Whether guests come here to play golf, unwind at the spa, discover the cuisine or simply relax in nature,” says Costa das Neves Figueiredo.

The opening comes as Portugal continues to attract a flurry of interest from luxury and lifestyle hotel brands including Masana Algarve Destination by Hyatt and Andaz Lisbon which opened in March 2026, marking the lifestyle brand’s debut in Portugal. IHG is certainly keen on the country. When Kimpton Quinta da Marinha was signed in 2025 alongside Onyria Marinha Cascais - Vignette Collection, the group said its Portuguese luxury and lifestyle portfolio already comprised six open hotels and eight in the pipeline.
