As of Monday, June 7, Spain is allowing the entry of travelers from outside of the European Union or Schengen Area associated countries who can prove they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Note: Exceptions remain in place for travelers from India, Brazil and South Africa, regardless of vaccination status.
The vaccines accepted to date by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or World Health Organization (WHO)—which are the only ones accepted for entry into Spain—include Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Oxford/AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson, along with Sinopharm and Sinovac-Coronavac. Travelers must have received the final dose of their vaccine at least 14 days prior to travel. In addition, those coming from a country or area of risk might additionally require a negative PCR or antigen test performed 48 hours prior to arrival.
Upon arrival, travelers will no longer be asked to quarantine. All travelers, however, must fill out a health questionnaire prior to departure, which can be filled out online or downloaded at www.spth.gob.es. This will generate a QR code, which travelers will need to show at border control on arrival.
According to an announcement from the government of Spain, two control points will be established in all entries to the country—including seaports and airports. Those who come from countries or areas not included in the list of high-risk countries will have access to a quick control with the QR code obtained through Spain Travel Health application. Once the E.U. COVID Digital Certificate enters into force (July 1), those who are holders of this document will also have access to this quick control. Those who come from areas that are included in the list of high-risk countries will have to undergo a random documentary control.
Unvaccinated minors who belong to the same family unit as the vaccinated adults traveling to Spain will be required to show proof of a negative COVID test performed at least 72 hours prior to arrival. Children under six will not be required to show a negative COVID test.
