The seductive island of Corfu—one of the greenest in Greece, and a long-time favorite of holidaymakers—will soon unveil a sexy Luxury Collection hotel. Originally built for the Onassis family in the late 1960s, the modernist property has completed a multimillion-euro renovation and will reopen on July 14 as the Domes Miramare, A Luxury Collection Resort. Until August 1, when it will convert to Luxury Collection management, the adults-only beachfront resort will operate under the Domes brand, the third property in Greece for the luxury hospitality group. With a number of new projects in the pipeline, Domes also operates Domes of Elounda and the Domes Noruz Chania—both part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection.
Situated on Corfu’s eastern cost, just 10 miles from Corfu Airport, Domes Miramare will have 113 rooms, suites and villas, decorated by Kristina Zanic Design Consultants in a color palette reflecting the island (blue, green and cream). Inspired by ancient Greek mosaics, the marble bathrooms will have sinks in tiled pastel patterns. Note that the Pavilion Suites have private pools and gardens on the beach. It’s also possible to rent out two large pool villas for exclusive, private use for larger groups or families.
The resort’s Greek cuisine deserves a special shout-out. Michelin-starred chef Tassos Mantis will oversee the restaurant, the menu showcasing local, seasonal ingredients. Guests can enjoy both indoor and outdoor dining areas, and—at the chic rooftop bar—a menu of creative cocktails crafted by expert mixologists.
Domes Miramare is all about Corfu-style R&R. Think: yoga on the beach, spa treatments and lounging by the swimming pools. Fitness-minded guests can try a session with a personal trainer. Keen to explore the island? The concierge team can arrange tours of UNESCO-listed Corfu town, excursions to artisan workshops, or outings to explore the island’s verdant interior.
