Haute couture fashion week is quickly approaching in Paris. There’s a palpable buzz in the city as the world’s fashion lovers flock to the French capital during the first week of July. Apart from the shows, fashion fans want to know where to shop, eat and imbibe? Here’s something to add to your list: Hotel Plaza Athénée, the glamorous palace hotel on the Avenue Montaigne, will be offering a dinner menu in homage to Christian Dior at Le Relais Plaza—the Art Deco-style brasserie. The three-course menu was inspired by Dior’s cookbook “La Cuisine Cousu-Main,” and includes chilled blue lobster, roasted lamb chops from Lozère with baked potatoes and thyme jus, followed by raspberry and vanilla Norwegian omelet. (90€ per person)
On the menu, Alain Ducasse writes: “Apart from his talent as couturier, Christian Dior was also a passionate gourmet who always gave as much care in elaborating his menus as he did with his couture creations. With him I share the love of beauty and taste. This menu pays him tribute.”
While you’re there, why not check out the Dior Institute? The world’s first Dior Spa recently got a stylish makeover (a mirrored ceiling is accented with sculptures of the famous Dior rose). New on the spa menu is the Dior Prestige Grand Facial Treatment.
In other news for the luxury hotel, pastry chef Angelo Musa has created a trio of healthy desserts which are low in calories (starting at just 70 calories a pop). The fashion crowd will appreciate the Strawberry Granita, a mix of fresh strawberries and aloe vera cubes. Try them at La Terrasse Montaigne.
