Singita—the renowned conservation company with 12 lodges and camps across South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe—opened a private retreat in the 350,000-acre Grumeti Reserve in the Serengeti in 2013. As Luxury Travel Advisor reported at the time, Singita Serengeti House was “Singita’s response to a growing demand from VIP travelers looking for bespoke experiences.” Situated on Sasakwa Hill with sweeping views over the plains, the retreat was designed for the exclusive use of a small group (of friends or family) with all activities, meals and itineraries customized for each guest. Private staff includes a full-time guide and vehicle.
In recent news from Tanzania: Singita has announced a complete redesign of the Singita Serengeti House. Recently reopened following the makeover, the retreat is showing off new-look living spaces, including an eat-in kitchen and media room, plus a full gym and a new tented spa suite at the tennis pavilion, which was also updated.
This is a prime spot for wildlife viewing, as this iconic African conservation area promises impressive game sightings throughout the year. And guests can ogle the wildlife directly from the 25-meter swimming pool, outdoor dining decks, and fire pits. To quote Singita about the retreat, “there’s a sense of relaxed freedom for families or friends to enjoy shared experiences in nature here.”
Inside the main house there are four light-filled guest suites, each equipped with outdoor showers and private terraces. One of these suites has been enlarged to include two bathrooms and dressing rooms. New decor includes John Banovich’s fine-art wildlife paintings and authentic artifacts.
