The Finch Bay Galapagos Hotel is known for its focus on environmental sustainability, and the newly unveiled spa follows in this tradition. Built out of volcanic rock to blend into the surrounding landscape, the spa is filled with natural light filtered through large glass windows. Facilities include two treatment rooms, two outdoor jacuzzis, and a yoga deck with views of the beach, where sea turtles come to nest.
Spa treatments celebrate the Galapagos with products by Ecuadorian wellness brand Aroma Vida alongside local ingredients like Palo Santo oil. Two signatures include “Sweet Feet,” which features an Ecuadorian chocolate mask, and “Lava Meets Water,” a massage inspired by the island landscapes, utilizing hot volcanic and cold marble stones. (Note that the team of local therapists was trained by spa experts, Raison d’Etre.) Following a treatment, guests can relax with a cup of Galapagos tea, Amatea, flavored with goji berries or sweet moringa.
The Finch Bay Galapagos Hotel is owned by Metropolitan Touring, the first travel company that began to operate excursions to the Galapagos Islands 60 years ago. Metropolitan Touring also owns and operates three expedition ships in the Galapagos (Yacht Isabela II, Yacht La Pinta and the Santa Cruz II), and two other hotels in Ecuador (Casa Gangotena in Quito Old Town and Mashpi Lodge in the Andean cloud forest). There are just 27 rooms and suites at the Finch Bay Galapagos Hotel, and guests have access to a large living space and restaurant, pool, terrace and bar overlooking the water. The only beachfront hotel in the Galapagos, it’s also the only property in the islands to be part of National Geographic’s Unique Lodges of the World portfolio.
