Barbados bound? An exciting piece of hotel news has crossed our radar. Today the Fairmont Royal Pavilion has launched a renovation project that will transform the public spaces and all 72 guest rooms and suites. As a result, the luxury hotel will close from September 28 through November 12 in order to minimize disturbance to guests.
Fairmont has tapped the celebrated design firm Richmond International to conceive the new look, which is said to be inspired from the hotel’s “plantation heritage and stunning oceanfront location.” Rooms have a luxurious residential feel: many are equipped with furnished balconies for relaxing al fresco (in seersucker bathrobes, anyone?) and taking in the views. The makeover is expected to be unveiled on November 15, with a restaurant renovation to follow in summer 2018.
Known as “The Jewel in the Crown of Barbados,” The Fairmont Royal Pavilion has a coveted waterfront location (a half-mile stretch of beach) where guests can revel in a number of recreational activities; think golf, tennis, snorkeling, sailing, and water sports. (Non-motorized water sports are free.) Restaurants include the Palm Terrace Restaurant and the Taboras Restaurant, a casual open-air space serving a bountiful buffet breakfast and showcasing local evening entertainment. Afternoon Tea is also available, on a complimentary basis. Families note that children 10 and older are welcome year-round, while children 9 and younger are welcome from March 3 - November 3 and December 16 - January 5.
Part of AccorHotels, the Fairmont collection consists of more than 70 hotels globally, including The Plaza in New York, The Savoy in London, and Fairmont Le Château Frontenac in Québec City, with other properties in the pipeline.
