Just in time for the summer season, Turkey’s beautiful Riviera coast near Bodrum will show off the newly renovated Six Senses Kaplankaya resort. As we reported last year, the property originally opened in July 2016 as the first international outpost for the Canyon Ranch brand, with an impressive wellness facility encompassing 107,000 square feet. It operated for less than a year as a Canyon Ranch resort, changing to Six Senses management in May 2017. Now, after a complete renovation by New York-based Clodagh Design (the same team behind the Six Senses Douro Valley in Portugal), the resort is reopening on May 1. To quote the official press release, “the transformation will bring the property in line with Six Senses design, sustainability and wellness standards to create a unique guest experience that addresses all the senses to achieve balance and wellbeing.”
Built into rock formations and designed with green roofs, the seafront resort aims to offer an innovative wellness experience while preserving the natural surroundings. There are 141 rooms, six suites and 66 Ridge Villas—a good choice for families traveling together. In-room treats include Turkish carpets, walk-in closets, an iPad for mood control of air-conditioning and lights, a Marshall Bluetooth speaker and Wi-Fi.
Beyond the dazzling destination spa, resort highlights include the Alchemy Bar, the library, the “Earth Lab,” and fragrant gardens including a “meditation labyrinth.” Organic onsite gardens supply the restaurants, alongside produce and fish sourced locally. There are also five conference and event rooms. Looking to glam up your arrival? Splash out with a speedboat or helicopter transfer.
Six Senses currently operates 11 resorts and 28 spas in 20 countries, with ambitious expansion plans to triple the portfolio in the next five years.
