Swiss luxury hotel The Alpina Gstaad appointed Tim Weiland as its new general manager. Weiland started in his new position November 1, following the retirement of Eric Favre, the hotel’s managing director since October 2013.
Weiland joins The Alpina Gstaad with over 20 years of experience in the luxury hospitality business. Throughout his early career, Weiland worked in an assortment of food and beverage positions at five-star properties in Austria, Spain and Paris, culminating with his appointment as area food and beverage manager for three Banyan Tree properties in the Maldives.
In 2008, he began a ten-year stretch of management positions for Aman Resorts. First, he was brought on as the assistant manager of Amanjena in Marrakech, Morocco. From 2010 to 2012 he served as general manager of Amanbagh in Rajasthan, India. He followed this up with a little under two years at the Aman Summer Palace in Beijing. Most recently he spent four years as the general manager for Aman Le Mélézin in Courchevel, France, during which time the hotel went through an expansion and refurbishment.
The Alpina Gstaad, a member of Virtuoso and the Legend Collection of Preferred Hotels and Resorts, is located in Gstaad, Switzerland. The 56-room property includes three restaurants, a private cinema, a cigar lounge, a ballroom and an art collection.
