Big news in the world of Anantara. The beloved Bangkok-based luxury hotel brand is arriving in the Americas for the very first time. Set to debut in mid 2018, Anantara Maraú Bahia Resort is situated on the Bay of Camamu, an ecological sanctuary, on the Maraú Peninsula in Bahia. This is a beautiful stretch of Atlantic coastline in the northeast of Brazil, and Bahia is celebrated for its rich cultural melange and year-round tropical climate.
The former Kiaroa Eco-Luxury Resort is under renovation before its transformation under the Anantara umbrella. Notably, the Anantara Maraú Bahia Resort will be the first Asian hotel brand in Brazil.
To quote the official press release, Anantara aims to bring “five-star luxury with a sense of adventure to this extraordinary destination.” Guests will be able to arrive directly by plane to the resort’s private landing strip.
The resort’s thatched roofing was designed to blend into the surrounding landscapes, verdant with vegetation along a pristine beach. There will be only 30 guestrooms, suites and bungalows when the resort opens, with an anticipated expansion to follow. (And private pool bungalows are in the works.)
On-site attractions will include an Anantara spa, large swimming pool, tennis courts and beach volleyball, while the resort will also offer a host of local experiences. Think horseback riding on the beach to the Carapitangui River, fishing trips, scuba diving, paddle boarding at sunset and excursions to Tremembé Waterfall and its natural bathing pools and nearby tropical islands.
