Anantara is upping the luxury quotient in the “Forest City” of Guiyang in southwest China. This is the capital of Guizhou Province, known for its subtropical climate, natural scenery, and rich culture showcased by 30 distinct ethnic groups; Anantara Guiyang Resort is the first international resort to open in the city. The five-star resort has 218 rooms, suites, and pool villas designed with traditional flourishes and amenities (like Chinese tea sets). Balconies overlook the gardens, fairways, or mountains. The crème de la crème of the accommodations are the impressive pool villas; think plunge pool, sun decks, and dining rooms with a pantry. The three-bedroom pool villa even has its own gym and massage room.
The Anantara brand is known for immersing guests in authentic cultural experiences, and the Anantara Guiyang Resort is no exception. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in master chef cooking classes and games of majiang, while the spa highlights China’s ancient healing traditions. Signature treatments will include tea-inspired therapies and an Exotic Bamboo Massage. Yoga classes are also available.
There are a number of F&B outlets to choose from. Fanjing is the all-day dining restaurant serving breakfast buffets and a mix of Asian and Western cuisine; Siam, the signature Thai restaurant, is a nod to Anantara’s roots in Thailand; The Ancient Town serves traditional delicacies from Guizhou along with Sichuan and Cantonese cuisine; Jia Xiu, the lobby lounge, offers drinks and nibbles throughout the day; The Dragon Palace Bar is situated by the indoor pool, while the Azalea Bar is an outdoor hang-out. Tip: Anantara is known for its personalized “Dining by Design” program; why not opt for a floating brunch in the pool?
Rounding out the facilities are two swimming pools and meeting/event space including a grand ballroom.
This is the third Anantara property in China after Sanya and Xishuangbanna. In other exciting news, Anantara has recently debuted in Europe in Portugal’s Algarve region.
