Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas has announced the addition of Anantara Koh Yao Yai Resort, slated to open in December. Koh Yao Yai island is located in the middle of Phang Nga Bay halfway between Phuket and Krabi, Thailand.
The Anantara Koh Yao Yai will have 148 accommodations, with one- and two-bedroom beachfront pool villas. The suites are housed in four low-rise buildings; all have ocean views and overlook a freeform swimming pool, with signature Deluxe Seaview Suites spanning 968 square feet. Eight Seaview Pool Penthouses offer two floors, one of which houses a glass-bottomed swimming pool. Each penthouse spans 3,939 square feet and has a large outdoor space for dining or private gatherings. The Grand Seaview Family Suites hav an in-room slide and play area, besides two-tiered bunk beds. The 1,830-square-foot Lagoon Pool Villas come with a private plunge pool, wooden sundeck, outdoor dining area and luxury amenities.
Dining options will include an ocean-facing dining restaurant serving produce-driven Thai/Asian dishes, an all-day lobby restaurant and bar with an international seasonal menu and a pool bar. An organic farm provides the restaurants with fresh fruit, vegetables and spices.
Recreational facilities will include a family pool with a kids-only splash area and a large indoor-outdoor children’s club, meeting spaces, a gym and a water sports center, besides a hydro pool and hammam.
Besides island-hopping, snorkeling and diving, guests can observe the native hornbills, enjoy a boat ride to Birds Nest Island or enjoy a tuk-tuk tour of the coconut and rubber plantations, and local fishing villages—the backbone of the island’s economy.
Phuket International Airport is the closest aviation hub to Anantara Koh Yao Yai and can be reached by a combination of speedboat and car rides. The resort will also have its own private jetty allowing easy access for guest transfers from Phuket or Krabi airport.
