Fans of Blackberry Farm—the idyllic food-focused estate in the Great Smoky Mountains, called “an undisputed American treasure” by Town & Country magazine—will be thrilled to learn about a new resort opening in late 2018. The Knoxville News Sentinel reports that Blackberry Mountain will be situated on a 5,200-acre estate, of which 2,800 acres will remain untouched: “The location is part of the Three Sisters property on Chilhowee Mountain in which the Foothills Land Conservancy holds a conservation easement of 1,898 acres.”
The focus at Blackberry Mountain will be on health and wellbeing, with a spa, yoga studio, spin studio, fitness room, gymnasium and a basketball court. As quoted in Town & Country, owner Mary Celeste Beall describes how the two properties will complement one another, “Blackberry Farm shares a lifestyle steeped in farm tradition and celebrated wine and food; Blackberry Mountain will center around a more active and wellness-minded experience. [It's] a special place for people to have a national park-like experience in a private setting.”
There will be six cabins, 13 cottages and multi-bedroom homes with fireplaces and mountain views. Other attractions include the Three Sisters Restaurant, The Firetower for casual dining, and an infinity pool overlooking the mountains. Blackberry Farm and Blackberry Mountain will only be seven miles apart, meaning guests can partake in activities at both sites (a Lexus car service will be available for transfers). Needless to say, the culinary program at Blackberry Mountain will no doubt draw foodies from across the country.
