Auberge Resorts Collection Adds Hawaii's Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows

Auberge Resorts Collection recently announced that it has added Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows, a popular resort on Hawaii Island, to its portfolio of luxury resorts, residences and clubs. Mauna Lani will undergo an extensive renovation before being renamed, Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection.

With plans already underway, the re-launch and reopening of Mauna Lani is planned for late 2019.

The development and ownership team is DiamondHead Land, a joint venture between San Francisco-based ProspectHill Group and Hawaii-based hotel executive Pat Fitzgerald, in partnership with a major institutional investor.

Set on 32 oceanfront acres marked by fishing ponds, natural lava plains, tropical gardens and bordered by beaches, Mauna Lani will undergo a hotel renovation in excess of $100 million.

As part of the hotel redesign, the total number of hotel rooms will be reduced, and oceanfront and ocean view suites offering coastal views will be added. Mauna Lani Bungalows, with their private pools, butler service and private resort-within-a-resort setting, will also be enhanced.

The signature waterfront CanoeHouse restaurant, a cool spot for watching the sun slip beyond the horizon, will serve local dishes, hand-crafted cocktails and premium wines. The existing Bay Terrace Restaurant will become a new three-meal restaurant with a lively bar to enjoy daily sunsets.

Anchoring the landscape of the resort will be brand-new adult and family pools and a variety of gathering places for playing and relaxing. A brand-new infinity edge Adult Pool and Lounge is being built with private cabanas offering views of the royal ponds and the Pacific, and a completely redesigned Family Pool will be active with daily programs.

Auberge will introduce its signature Auberge Adventures program, which aims to take full advantage of the resort’s location and the island’s natural landscape. Whether together or independently, guests will also have access to active programs from a kids club to stand-up paddleboarding to outrigger canoe adventuring and after-hours bonfires.
