Located on a gorgeous stretch of California coastline, the Spanish-style Bacara resort first opened in 2000 on a prime spot of 78-acre beachfront. Over the years, the luxury resort has hosted celebrity weddings and charmed A-list guests with its spa, pools, and fine dining. As of September 29, the Bacara Resort and Spa has become part of The Ritz-Carlton portfolio.
The oceanfront resort was acquired by Carey Watermark Investors Incorporated and Carey Watermark Investors 2 Incorporated, and recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation to enhance the six dining venues and all 358 guest rooms. More renovations are planned for The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara—including a makeover of public areas, meeting rooms, the fitness center and spa—and there will also be additional enhancements like a new Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge, complete with food offerings and personalized check-in and concierge service.
Highlights of the The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara include the salt-water swimming pools and 42,000-square foot spa with a whopping 36 treatment rooms. The resort’s signature restaurant, Angel Oak, is a traditional steakhouse known for its wine cellar stocked with 12,000 bottles. Wine lovers also appreciate the premier flights offered in the Foley Tasting Room.
Speaking of the resort’s rebranding, Michael Medzigian, CEO of Carey Watermark Investors said, “We believe that the extensive, recently completed renovations and The Ritz-Carlton rebranding, in combination with our further investment in strategic property improvements and implementation of value-add operational enhancements, will increase overall profitability and reposition the property at the top of its competitive set within both the Santa Barbara and the luxury Southern California oceanfront resort markets.”
