Sustainable tourism group Bee + Hive announced the opening of the luxury seven-room hotel Pousada Trijuncão. Located on a conservationist farm in the Cerrado, the Brazilian savannah, the property will provide a variety of sustainable activities.
The Cerrado, making up over 20 percent of Brazil, possesses greater biodiversity than any other savannah. It contains five percent of the world’s plant species, half of which are found nowhere else. Home to the maned wolf and giant armadillos, the area contains 251 species of mammals, as well as 850 species of birds, 204 amphibians, 1,200 fish and 278 reptiles.
While at Pousada Trijuncão, guests will have an assortment of opportunities to encounter this wildlife. The property will host a night expedition in search of the world’s smallest species of alligator, the jacaré-anão. Guests can also visit Sertão Veredas, a conservation area protecting emus and turtles. Other options at Pousada Trijuncão range from safaris searching for the Brazilian jaguar to a trip to the spring of the Formoso River.
Pousada Trijuncão will join an assortment of sustainable hotels, restaurants and parks at Bee + Hive. Members include Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef in Australia, Masuwe Lodge in Zimbabwe, Bananal Farm, Pousada Tutabel, Pousada Literária de Paraty and The Caiman Ecological Refuge in Brazil, and the Treehotel in Sweden.
