Belmond is adding another jewel to its Ligurian crown with the debut of Villa Beatrice, a century-old clifftop villa in Portofino that has been transformed into a private-use estate for high-end travelers seeking seclusion, sophistication and a timeless Italian lifestyle.
Located a short stroll from Splendido, A Belmond Hotel, Portofino, Villa Beatrice is the first of its kind in the brand’s portfolio. The five-suite property has undergone a sensitive restoration by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, merging its storied past with relaxed, Riviera-style elegance. The result: a fully staffed sanctuary where guests can immerse themselves in nature, art, architecture, and the languid rhythms of the Italian villeggiatura.

Originally built in 1913 by famed Tuscan architect Gino Coppedè for Ligurian entrepreneur Attilio Odero, the villa was conceived as a summer retreat for family and friends. Perched above Punta Caiega, its distinctive silhouette has long captivated locals and visitors alike with its Art Nouveau curves, Neo-Renaissance details, and signature Gothic torretta.
Now reimagined, the villa blends historic character with modern indulgence.
“We wanted guests to feel that they had been welcomed into a cherished family villa, lovingly enriched by successive generations,” Brudnizki said in a statement. “Each element tells the story of the house itself.”

That story unfolds across three floors, with four generous suites, a curved main terrace for entertaining, an ornamented bar, a rooftop turret lounge, plunge pool, and private sea access. A hidden guesthouse, La Casetta, adds an additional bedroom, plunge pool, and vine-covered pergola.
Restored frescoes, Genovese marble, locally crafted ceramics, and regionally sourced textiles offer a deeply rooted sense of place. Materials like scagliola and Vienna straw nod to regional craft traditions, while Albisola Superiore ceramics and Chiavari-inspired furnishings ground the interiors in Ligurian heritage.
Nature is a constant companion at Villa Beatrice. Surrounded by cascading gardens and umbrella pines, guests enjoy panoramic views from Paraggi and Cinque Terre to the Gulf of Tigullio. The torretta offers a rare 360-degree perspective across the coast. “Time plays out differently at Villa Beatrice,” the brand notes, inviting guests to reconnect with seasonal rhythms and the sensory pleasures of the landscape.

Experiences at the villa are tailored and deeply personal. A private chef, yoga instructor, personal trainer, and 24-hour butler are included, while additional programming — gelato tasting, mixology classes, art lessons, or stargazing with an astronomer — can be arranged. A two-hour sunset cruise and roundtrip airport transfers are included in the stay.
Villa Beatrice rounds out Belmond’s trilogy of Portofino properties, joining the guesthouse charm of Splendido Mare and the iconic grandeur of Splendido. Together, they offer a seamless journey along the Ligurian Riviera—and now, one more reason to linger.
Villa Beatrice is available for exclusive use through November 2, 2025. Pricing is available on request.
