Curaçao may be one of the less-traveled islands in the Caribbean, but it’s got one of the best boutique hotels going. Baoase, an 11-villa-and-suite resort, opened its doors in June and was fashioned out of luxury homes overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Hint: We recommend any of the villas or suites overlooking the lagoon-like pool (Dutch boats are used to deliver drinks directly to the doorsteps).
Tip: The Master Villa is the top accommodation. It comes with views that reach all the way to the buildings of downtown Willemstad, Curaçao’s capital. The villa also has its own private infinity pool, complete with a “luxury cave” that includes a Jacuzzi, a relaxation area, a bar and card table and the use of a private beach.
There are also three suites: Mawar Putih, Mira and Bunga Anggrek. The first two are second-floor accommodations with panoramic ocean views. We say Bunga Anggrek is for romantic couples (think ocean views, spacious balcony and private Jacuzzi).
Top Touch: The hotel can provide its own private chef for in-room dining. Note: There’s also a restaurant located on the resort’s beach.
Spa Time: The resort is different in that, in lieu of a formal spa, all spa treatments are performed in the villas or suites.
