Brown Hotels has announced its largest property to date, The Lighthouse, located in a Brutalist architecture-style property in Tel Aviv's center and just a few blocks from the Mediterranean Sea. A soft opening is set for September 2018.
The 100-room hotel will have luxury amenities like two outdoor swimming pools (opening 2018/2019), two cocktail bar/lounges, and a rooftop lounge that will host a lineup of active events.
Brown Hotels is a boutique hotel brand with roots in Tel Aviv, conceived by two native Israelis, Leon Avigad and Nitzan Perry, with partner Nir Waizman. Their properties, which include four hotels in Tel Aviv, two in Jerusalem, and one in Croatia, are small hotels. The Lighthouse, by contrast, explores a new sense of scale for the brand. The building, a former office tower built in the Brutalist-influenced 1970's, offers views of the White City and the Mediterranean Sea.
Inside, the hotel has two nightclubs, two pools, a full-service gym and spa, an 18th-floor rooftop and a conference/banqueting center. Guests check in at a hybrid reception-bar area, where bartenders make cocktails for arriving guests.
Accommodations at The Lighthouse range from approximately 236-290 square feet. 12 terrace rooms offer balconies with outdoor Jacuzzis, made private by a natural fence of fauna. Other rooms offer obstruction-free vistas of the Mediterranean Sea coastline, while city-facing rooms offer panoramic views of Tel Aviv. 12 Junior and Executive Suites include separate seating areas and several in-room amenities. In a phase two of development, The Lighthouse will open another two floors, and an additional 60 guest rooms, bringing the total room count to 160.
The hotel's interior was the collaborative work of Brown Hotels' Leon Avigad and architect Nestor Sandbank. Certain spaces, like the lobby's Library seating area, are trademark Brown Hotels signatures. Other unique touches include playful accents like a birdcage swing in the lobby and antlers mounted on the wall. Deep and dark tones of navy and emerald, along with barely-lit passageways, set the mood, while hints of marigold and flamingo pink offer notes of contrast.
Food and beverage options include a fine dining experience at the hotel's fifth-floor dairy and fish restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and an a-la cart dinner. For breakfast, The Lighthouse's guests will be greeted with coffee, juices, an array of local salads, smoked fish, and their choice of eggs including the local signature "Shakshuka".
The hotel will house the Haiku Bar by local events leader, ARIA, which will serve craft cocktails and tapas style plates. At the sky bar, guests will enjoy bottle service and local cuisine at luxurious and spacious banquet seating.
A range of food and beverage offerings will also be made available in the hotel's banquet and conference complex that accommodates up to 400 people in its meeting rooms.
